Thanks to all the Retiree Volunteers!

The retiree group pitched in to help the NSSEO programs at least once a month (sometimes more) this year.  They worked in the garden at Kirk, prepared curriculum materials and books for Kirk, assembled communication boards for the AT department, helped with the H1N1 vaccination program and registered participants at the January inservice day.

Individual retiree volunteers worked at Kirk and SLOEC, putting in many hours in the classrooms and on the "trails."

Good Job!

The Retiree Group will not meet over the summer,

but look for email or webpage updates!

Certification Information

Retirees who are not using their certificates should go on to the ISBE website in the ECS area and make your certificate "exempt" from CPDUs.  When it comes time to renew your certificate, you may "owe" CPDUs from the years you were teaching, but you will not need to earn any while your certificate is "inactive".

If you are only working part-time (subbing or other part-time postitions), you can also enter that information.  You will only owe a pro-rated number of CPDUs adjusted for the amount of time you are working.

You should go on to ECS and enter your CPDUs now (before it is time to renew) while the information is still on the top of the pile in your files at home!

If for some reason, you owe more CPDUs than you have, NSSEO can help you earn some, just let us know.

If anyone is interested in a group getting together to work on entering the information. . . let Sandy know, we could use the lab at central and work on it together.

Volunteer Opportunities

NSSEO is offering many ways to stay connected through volunteering in our programs and buildings. Retirees are invited to volunteer in any of our programs. Just let us know what you are interested in doing. Benefits include: Having fun with cool people, access to NSSEO in-service training, chances to learn new skills (and keep up your old ones!)
