Kirk Basketball at Amy Rudolph Tournament

Kirk Basketball at Amy Rudolph Tournament

Another fantastic Amy Rudolph Tournament is in the books. We always appreciate Hoffman Estates hosting a truly spectacular event every year and expanding and growing it more and more. This year, we saw so many more members and alumni from all of our schools involved than ever before. We also saw a slight adjustment to the format, including the widely popular 3-point contest and senior night. Hoffman Estates' breakout star player took home the trophy for the first-ever 3-point contest, and their team made it to the finals against Hersey High School.

After an impressive five-year run of reaching the championship game, our beloved Kirk Cubs lost in the first round. Our relatively new team of basketball players showed terrific resilience and teamwork in the face of adversity. Still, it couldn’t make some critical buckets in the game's final stretch and lost 22-28. What each and every team won was sportsmanship, which was on an impressive display throughout the evening's event.

The Amy Rudolph Basketball Tournament provides a unique opportunity for District 211 students to cheer one another on while raising funds for a worthy cause.

The Amy Rudolph Basketball Tournament, in its 36th year, recognizes Amy Rudolph, a unique education student who passed away in November of 1982 from kidney failure. She was only 15 years old. Three months after her death, Hoffman Estates High School hosted a sporting event to honor Amy’s love of sports and her outgoing personality that inspired those around her. This event, the Amy Rudolph Basketball Tournament, continues every year in her honor. All proceeds raised at this event directly benefit the National Kidney Foundation.
