On Saturday, September 20th, NSSEO partnered with the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association to host a Special Needs Hour during the annual Oktoberfest/Fall Festival. From 12:00–1:00 p.m., members of the special needs community from near and far gathered to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon designed especially for them.
Families were able to experience a wide variety of activities, including face painting, balloon animals, sensory pits, drawing and coloring stations, a petting zoo, donkey rides, root beer floats, and plenty of snacks. A highlight of the event was a special visit from Scottie the Parrot, who was a big hit with children and adults alike!
It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces from NSSEO, as well as new families joining in. We are grateful to the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association for their partnership in creating such an inclusive, welcoming, and joyful celebration for our community.
