This month, we are proud to recognize four remarkable students whose hard work, positivity, and personal growth continue to inspire their teachers, peers, and the entire NSSEO community. Their unique strengths shine brightly, and we are thrilled to celebrate all they have accomplished. Each of these students embodies the spirit of perseverance, community, and compassion that defines NSSEO. We applaud Yahya, Costa, Will, and Morgan for the wonderful impact they make every day. Their light truly helps our whole community shine.

Yahya – District 59
Yahya has made exceptional progress in a short period of time, demonstrating tremendous growth academically, socially, and emotionally. His social skills have flourished, and he now actively engages with peers, becoming a friendly and uplifting presence throughout the school. Yahya has achieved his IEP goals, stayed safe, and is beginning to explore integration back into his home district — a reflection of his hard work and the support of his team.
He brings joy to the classroom with his love for story time, visiting the animals, park time, and even the bus ride home. Some of his favorite things include spending time with Ms. Lozano, chocolate milk, kinetic sand, and shaving cream. Yahya’s bright spirit continues to make a beautiful mark on our community.

Costa – District 62
Costa has shown impressive growth this year, especially as he begins his integration journey. He has become more social, more confident, and more engaged in his learning. Costa’s creativity truly shines in his work on the morning announcements, which he edits with care and enthusiasm. He accepts feedback with maturity and uses it to improve his work, demonstrating not only talent but resilience and a commitment to doing his best.

Will – District 59
Will is currently integrating with Grove Junior High and has demonstrated an incredible work ethic that sets a powerful example for others. He is polite, articulate, and consistently kind to students and staff. As a strong writer and thoughtful communicator, Will often helps his peers with assignments and encourages them to make positive choices. His leadership, generosity, and quiet determination make him an outstanding Shining Star.

Morgan – District 25
Morgan is deeply connected to her school community, forming strong relationships with students and staff alike. She is always ready to help others, whether it is assisting classmates, offering support to younger students after school, or participating enthusiastically in activities. With 100 percent attendance, active classroom participation, and a habit of writing uplifting notes to peers, Morgan leads with kindness and positivity. Inspired by her own experiences, she hopes to become a trauma therapist so she can continue supporting others in meaningful ways.
