Dear Miner Families,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones well. My name is Nicole Burke, and I’m so excited to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Miner School. While this is my first year in this role, I’ve had the privilege of supporting students with a variety of needs for the past 14 years—and I’m truly honored to now be part of the Miner community.
Before coming to Miner, I worked as a Learning and Behavior Specialist on the south side of Chicago, in a self-contained model in Wheeling, and at a therapeutic day school on the Northshore. More recently, I have been an Instructional and Behavioral Coach partnering with schools across the north and northwest suburbs to support both academic and behavioral growth. This last year, as the Program Coordinator, I have led our related service teams that support our program schools. I have a heart for this work and a deep commitment to helping every child feel safe, seen, and supported.
I believe that strong relationships—between staff, students, and families—are the foundation for meaningful learning. That’s why I’m especially passionate about creating school environments that are trauma-informed, predictable, and built around trust, empathy, and connection. I also believe in the power of listening—really listening—to what each student and family needs.
Whether it’s problem-solving together, celebrating progress, or just being someone to talk to, I’m here for you and your child. You can expect me to show up with compassion, curiosity, and a little humor—because school should be a place where kids and adults alike feel a sense of belonging and joy.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever have questions, concerns, or ideas you’d like to share. I’d love to connect with you—whether in person, over the phone, or via email.
Here’s to a wonderful school year, full of growth, laughter, and partnership. I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you.
Warmly,
Nicole Burke
