NSSEO Heartbeat of the Week – Kristen Lambert
“Kristen Lambert is truly an example of what the “Heartbeat of the Week” represents! Kristen runs an amazing food service program with a very small and dedicated staff. Not only does she supervise the program, plans meals, order food and complete all of the state-required paperwork, she is also in the kitchen daily prepping, cooking, and cleaning. Kristen welcomes challenges….ask her to prepare a gluten-free, dairy-free, and/or vegetarian menu for a student, and she will rise to the challenge. If that all wasn’t enough, she is always looking at how to support students in the transition program with in-school work opportunities. This is where Kristen continues to excel! She not only provides creative work opportunities, she develops task cards with photos to help students learn and remember how to complete a task. Kristen did not miss a beat when we decided to feed our students during the summer and during remote learning, and deliver breakfasts and lunches to their homes, she even enlisted the support from her parents to help deliver meals. Because of Kristen’s efforts, NSSEO was able to deliver tens of thousands of meals to families! Through everything, Kristen is always kind, caring, and willing to do what is best for the students at NSSEO.”
